Well, if you consider the exploding AI-injecting takeover bot that I have planted on all my drives as a "bitlocker" then yes, I do use it at home :)
It encrypts everything, then encrypts the encryption keys, which then immediately deletes all of the data on the attacking machine, and then...
And the chair is against the wall, the chair is against the wall, and John has a long mustache, John has a long mustache...it's 12:00 here in RFA, one day closer to victory !
That's definitely NOT an ideal place to put a drive (of any kind)...so I will 2nd the vote for a pcie card to get it out where it can get some air flow...been there, done that, many times, works great :)
Anytime my drives (SN 850x's) get near 60c, I start watching them....fortunately, that only...
His choice of outerwear may be questionable or the subject of great scrutiny, however, I often wonder why he doesn't wear any different styles, colors or cuts...I mean it's not like he has a strict leather budget or anything :)
So my question to Ngreediya is:
Exactly which part of NO do you not understand, the "N" part or the "O" part ?
But as usual and continuing their push towards AI this and AI that, they simply don't give a sh^t about the consumer market anymore, other than being able to say that they still sell...
Now make it 100x that and maybe, just maybe, some companies will think twice about making deceptive/misleading/false claims about their products....
Nah, who am I kidding here, this will never happen because so many of these companies have soooo many stooges in washington in their back pockets :(
Capitalism 101 at it's finest......
Create the ideal "Supply & Demand" situation (tight supply AND high demand), then use that to justify massive price increases for very little performance improvements....
Sound familiar ?
Just like those so-called "floods, fires, electrical outages" etc...
Well I have 3 mini-me boxes from other mfgrs and there are great for what they are...small, quiet, solid performance, good feature sets, and most of all, reasonably priced :)
No they are NOT gammin/workstation powerhouses, but that's not what they are designed for anyways.
And don't worry too...
Yea, but if they pay somebody for that service, then Jacket Man would have to forgo getting a new jacket that week, can't have that now can we....hehehe :)
I sincerely hope that Mr. Whitaker will absolutely drill him about their insane profits & overpricing crap for consumer products, but I...
For the computer/electronics stuff, selling it here (or similar places like TPU, MacRumors etc) is your best bet....not saying you absolutely can't get scammed, but the chances are way, way less than those other places you mentioned.....I've been buying & selling stuff here for well over 10...
Yea, I've some of the same types of mods over the years to some D(h)ells, HP's and even some older Compcraqs too, and it helped some but the temps were never really was as good as they should have been :)
Looks like you did a nice job on yours, so congrats !
Just saw this yesterday, looks interesting but probably mega $$ :D

Well, sorry to add to your misery, I can tell you that the last rig I worked on a few weeks ago, had the same drive in it, and was brought to me because it suddenly failed to boot, seemingly for no reason.....
I went thru a few hours of diagnostics using various apps & test processes, after...
I remember what some folks at work used to say fairly often:
"You smoke, you die"
"You smoke near your pc, it dies, then you die too"
If you must smoke while using your pc, then do it a favor & go outside, or at least go into a different room & close the door...or better just quit :D I know...
I had that issue too, and discovered what was causing it, at least part of it anyways:
Every single app is set as100% active all the time, with all background processes running wide open with all permissions on by default, and no limits whatsoever....
I had to go through every single app...
As with most things 'puter-related, the usual advice applies:
If you NEED it now, buy it now...if not, then don't & wait, but by Q4/25, more newer betta stuff will be out or forthcoming in 26-27, so then you will be right back in the same place as you are now.... but good luck with whatever...
Soooooo, to summarize/translate:
A bunch of gammin optimizations, that should have been there from day 1 but were not....that and a few bug fixes thrown in for good measure
S/n/O/o/Z/e :D
Same here.
I have been using 850X's exclusively since they came out (and the 750X's before that) in both my personal rigs & client builds too, as OS and storage drives, neveranottaproblemo whatsoever.....and the majority of my clients are CAD/imaging/database pro's that thrash on them hard for...
Looks nice, however, TT has the "Commander" fan controller that fits perfectly in that 5.25 slot in the front, and will allow you digitally control up to 10 fans (2 on each connector), which is what I did with mine back in the day :)
Been there, done that, too many times to count....neveranottaproblemo :)
I just love those little Elite boxes, so nice & compact, and reasonable performance for just a little $$, which is 100% ideal for office/POS apps....My wife uses 1 for her WFH healthcare stuff, and I have a few as spares...
Perhaps it's not faster than the 990P, but the 850X is at least as fast....within in a few MB/s anyways. And seeins how both are gen 4 drives rated for 7450/6900MB/s, I doubt that most average users could tell the difference anyways....
Hell, even on my slightly dated 11G mini-me box, I still...
As with most things involving technology, science, and/or the military, what they show you in a video or pictures or in PR's is only what they WANT you to see...... and while most folks are standing around going "wow, that's so cool", the developers are laughing their asses off because they know...
While it was actively being used, the battery life was always excellent, it was only towards the end of 1000's & 1000's of charge cycles did it start to degrade. IIRC, when I got rid of it, the "health" indicator showed 68%, but again, that was after almost 15 years of near-constant use, both...
July 1992, but back then the were called "Powerbooks" :)
It ran very well until early 2007 as my road warrior companion, when things (battery, screen, nic) started dying rather quickly, so I moved on to the more modern MacBook Pro shortly after they came out !
TeleFragger.....That Sir is what we in the engineering design world refer to as a "colossal, conglomerated clusterf*ck" of epic proportions, hehehe :D
It's makin my brain hurt just from looking at it, and I would most likely have a heart attack and/or a seizure if I were to see it in person....
