Thinking about getting back into doing some folding, have an pair of hex core 5660's that need a home, and was hoping someone might have a dual S1366 motherboard that is gathering some dust. Trying to keep it under $100 for the board.
PM me if you have anything you are looking to sell.

I primarily use unraid at work as a Veeam Backup Repository, has a 3tb Parity, no cache drives (not really needed for this purpose) 4 3tb drives, and 5 2tb drives. Only runs a single VM for the purposes of WAN acceleration of Veeam. It's been working great. I have a 2nd licnese I have never...
I'd just be happy with any one I could stream video on, and have it be reliable without stuttering, These days. Centurylink in Rural GA (and there is only 1 area with it) really sucks, and unfortunately, they are my only option as my wife won't let me drop terrestrial telephone , and satellite...
Alas, my 6 year old home was built with daisy chained jacks. Friend of mine and I ended up running ethernet through the house, as wifi signals have some wierd issues in it.
This, You can use a router as a switch & AP by plugging the network cable into a switch port on the router, and not using the WAN port. Just configure an internal IP address ONLY for the router so you can use it as a web enabled smart switch, and disable dhcp, dns, etc, as it's only operating as...
Good news is, if you arn't using it for phone or security, you can install a proper patch panel and switch, use the existing rj45 outlets and be done.
I'd recommend a keystone patch panel, as they are easier to terminate and work with.
Biggest problem you tend to find with telephone is it runs in sequence, it doesn't normally all terminate in 1 central location, but it is run from outlet to outlet.
Atmos is very very specific about placemenet of speakers for decent to optimal effect. Supposedly DTS:X is more "room-friendly" in that you can set levels for less then optimal placements or rooms. Currently I'm waiting for Marantz to release the update for DTS:X to the NR1606 before I consider...
I'm looking forward to seeing what the 1070 (Non-FE) will do, with the increase the 1080 saw, 8GB of ram, etc, I think it may even give the 980TI a run for it's money at a much lower cost, and since I game at the old forgotten 1920x1200, it should give me a nice increase over my AMD 270Xs
This!
If you don't have a router handy, you can use about any old pc with 3 NICs in it and run pfsense. And when I say old, I've easilly run it on a P4 w/ 512MB of ram and a 8GB USB drive.
Using 2 numbers outgoing phone calls are a bit of a pain, but you can do it, just requires you to say if you want to make a call by cell phone or google voice. I have a google voice number, I give it out to people more because I use it to screen calls from those I don't know personally. Any...
I use the linux controller with a virtual machine at work, and just run the base windows install for my home, since I don't monitor those like I do the work ones.
Sounds like Hinesville, GA to me, except most of the dark fiber in town in Centurylink's not Comcast. But where I live, my choices are even less, Centurylink & Satellite. We don't even have cable for TV (which is fine, since I was a Dish Customer before moving out to where I am now); but I would...
Well, 50 is the official supported max number of guests for Xen.
The truthful answer is it will depend on what you are running, and your storage speeds. You will bog down on Memory & Storage before all else,I don' know specifically with Xen, but typically ran 10-14 VMs with 2x Xeon 5570's and...
There are 2 ways to go about this fairly easily, depending on your level of experience, and want to learn.
Create a dynamic webpage using asp or php (I prefer the latter personally), then, depending on your experience use either an XML File (which you can edit and add titles easily) or use a...
Typically, unless the Vswitches are for the purpose of hypervisior events (vmotion, iscsi, etc), you will need to assign a vnic to the switch you want to work through, as well as subnetting things off so you don't cause some major network confusion. That said, from the sound of it, you should...
Yes, NAS drives are fine in a regular PC, typically they are designed more for long term storage, higher heat thresholds, have certain features helpful in raid situations. That said, I've had really bad luck with Seagate in the past, and tend to avoid them. But this is a new generation of drive...
I'd probably buy a board with an M.2, but just use standard Sata SSD for now, and add an M.2 if I find it really that slow. I typically find VMs boot really quick no matter what for the most part.
As for VT-d, I was just saying it's supported in Z170, so you can use any motherboard with BIOS...
Are you going to be running any databases on your lab?
Will this be your primary storage for your VMs?
I would actually install and run ESXi on a USB drive, load time is a bit longer initially then an SSD, but once ESXi is loaded, it all generally runs in memory, the hypervisor is very...
Are you installing something?
Windows 7, 8 & 10 when installing things, don't have network paths shared between users. There are 2 ways to fix it. Either do a regiistry hack that allows users to share network paths; which is easier for a long term solution, or for a short term solution, run an...
