AMD is 'working actively on really cool differentiators' to make the next generation of Zen 5 3D V-cache 'even better'
PC Gamer managed to chat with AMD's senior technical marketing manager, Donny Woligroski:
"The X3D stuff, we have a lot to...
IPC improvement isn’t going to be anywhere near 16% The marketing slides (which are typically exaggerated) say “up to” so your average IPC gains are going to be quite a bit less. My guess is you really need to be on 5k series or older for these...
I'd guess x870 is most appealing to those who don't currently have AM5 boards and can buy something knowing it'll work with the new CPU's and not have to worry about how to perform a bios flashback
My point is the moment AMD thinks the can increase margins be having 3D cache on both CCDs they’ll do it regardless of how much it may or may not benefit games and gamers
This is not something I would bet on. Personally I have not been able to get any function from a board that didn’t have bios support for the installed CPU. Perhaps AM5 is more forgiving but never had this type of luck on AM4
It looks damn near 1:1 to me. 3 unobstructed intake fans vs 1 unobstructed exhaust + 3 going through a radiator and the PSU fan. I’ll bet total cfm in is very close to cfm out. Also, not all cases are designed the same. Some work better with a...
On one hand my 5900x still does everything I need it to do. On the other, I still want a new system. Had a 3900x before, this next round I’m moving away from 6+6 CCD topology to 8+8. With many games utilizing up to 8 cores, I want to minimize CCD...
Not to anything that will make an appreciable or even noticeable difference. You need an all new build to take advantage of the monitor and whatever card you decide to go with.
I'm speculating, but I doubt US government issued 50B in subsidies to bring them over for anything short of their state of the art processes. We already have several sources outside Taiwan in general and TSMC in particular for "lesser" process...
It's only really needed for the dual CCD processors like the 7900x3d and 7950x3d. Some say it also helps with the non x3d versions of those same CPU's. Not necessary on a single CCD cpu like the 7800x3d
